Edit Select continues to steadily release high quality techno. [Info]
FEND (Chrissy Connor) sent me his EP—a kind of live industrial cassette excursion with noise, IDM, and dub elements. Not my usual style, but it’s a unique one. My thanks go to FEND for sending this release. [Info]
This is a youtube playlist that includes most of the tracks that used to play on a defunct Shoutcast stream called Fail’s Audio Workshop 4.0.
The online IDM scene from the 2000s is long gone, but this playlist mainly captures the sound that we used to be immersed in on a daily basis.
The embedded playlist above is limited to 200 tracks—the full playlist can be found by following the YT video link (works best on shuffle).
Hard hitting advanced dub tech rhythms and timbres here. Includes the reclusive Octaedre and an earlier Space Afrika track. Repressed LP originally from 2015 on a Berlin based label. [Info]
A great release on the Echocord label from last year. The subbass on track three is ridiculous. [Info]
This one is very well executed in a highly textured dub tech style. I was really impressed with this on first listen. [Info]
Proper sounding dub techno chord timbres happening on this album from last year. I’ve liked Aura Fresh since my first encounter with his sound on a Rohs! records CD release in 2014. [Info]
Excellently textured rhythmic and tonal dubby patterns on this new Echocord EP. [Info]
Yet another very interesting release on the German Vaagner label. Delay-heavy smeared stabs of pitched-down piano and string samples with subbass flourishes. Really evocative mood here with amazing album art to go with it. A noticeable Japanese touch as well. [Info]
Another great release from Vril. A proper solo full length with an evolved Vril-ish sound palette. Stunning collection of tracks. [Info]
Gentle swirling ambient with looping melodies, minimal filtered field recs, and deep pads. Motionfield has a very distinctive sound that I’ve appreciated on his past releases. This time it’s a self release. [Info]
